Chamonix Underpass - Light and Dark
For many years I have driven through this underpass in Chamonix at various times of day and wanted to photograph the contrast lighting created when the sun is not too strong and at the right angle. It is also a tricky shot to contain both the level of blacks and not completely blow out the highlights. At ISO 3200 noise is a slight issue but I think I have contained it well enough and feel what is still present adds to the texture.
I like the perspective and sweeping effect of the lines as well as the blue tones and contrast. The only thing missing for me is that I have seen it with better “rays” due to the smog of increased traffic – but that brings its own additional shooting problems!
Not everyone’s taste for sure – but I like it. Best viewed in dim lighting and only full screen without the stupid Flickr white background!
